A downloadable game

The Luddites were a movement in the 19th century who destroyed textile machinery as a result of the machines replacing their jobs and making their skills obsolete. This game is not about creating an accurate representation of the Luddite movement. Rather, it is an exercise in inefficiency. The game was produced using HECC-IT, a tool intended for writing interactive fiction. I used it to create a very simple puzzle game about placing Spinning Jennies in a small factory according to arbitrary rules. In the terms of interactive fiction, this game has sixty-five thousand, five-hundred, and forty-one pages.

Because of this inefficient design, the game exceeds itch.io's limits for how large a js file can be. Thus, you need to download it (I've provided both .zip and .tar.xz options), and open the index.html file in your browser. If you want to maximise inefficiency, you can download the files, print them out, bring them to your office to have them reviewed by a committee, re-draft and censor one of the pages (chosen at random), mail the new version to the president (not specifying which), and if the president approves, play the game with the oversight of the committee and the approval of the president.

holy shit someone finally attempted to use HECC-IT without being forced to use it 🙏

and I’m genuinely surprised that you managed to push HECC-IT as far as you did with this game.

I’m glad to see you approve of my (mis)use of your software :)
